Breaking News …

The Green Mountain Region’s 2018 Holiday Party was a splendid gathering at the Hotel Vermont in downtown Burlington.  The setting, great food and friendship contributed to a delightful evening.

 6 October 2018 – Fall Foliage Tour & 2018 Annual Members Meeting –

A big thank you to Peter and Ellen Arnold for the wonderful Fall Foliage Tour. The Tour offered participants a classic Porsche ride with twisty mountain roads, classic fields and  beautiful views of the Vermont foliage. The Tour began at the P&H Truck Stop in Wells River and continued through Ryegate Corner to Danville and then onto Marshfield.  From there we made our way to Hardwick through Morrisville and short break in Johnson, Vermont.  The final leg took us to Stowe via Smugglers Notch for lunch and the 2018 Annual Members meeting.

We do not have any events planned for November so enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday but remember to register for the Holiday Party at Motorsportreg.com by 25 November 2018.

Do you need a Green Mountain Porsche Club magnetic name tag?

If so, name tags can be ordered by emailing a request to our Treasurer, Christina McCaffrey at Christina.McCaffrey@uvmhealth.org. Be sure to spell your name(s) correctly!  All members and spouses/significant others should have one to wear on tours and club events.

Events Committee

One of the ideas that came forward at the 2017 Annual Members meeting was the establishment of an events committee to lend help and support for club events and tours. We want to extend thanks to Carl Wulfestieg, Chair; Peter and Ellen Arnold, Al Iuppa, Duffy Miller and Zancy Von Hooks.

If members have ideas, suggestions and comments on the events listed above drop an email to Carl at cwwulf@me.com.  After all, it is not too early to be thinking about 2019 Tours and Events.

Looking Back – The September 15th Tour of Central-Eastern Vermont was a wonderful success with 22 Porsches and 45 participants.  The route which took us from Quechee to Chester via Peru where we enjoyed wonderful lunch at J.J. Hapgood General Store and Eatery.  The owners of which, Juliette and Tim Britton, are fellow Porsche owners and plan to rejoin the Green Mountain Region! We also had an intermediate stop at the Green in Ludlow and had an opportunity to check out the beautiful Fletcher Memorial Library.

Speaking of the Porsche Club of America …

For over 50 years, the Porsche Club of America [PCA] has been dedicated to enhancing the Porsche ownership experience. No matter what your interest – social, technical, or competitive – PCA has something to offer every Porsche owner.

The PCA offers driving experience, technical assistance, member benefits, and camaraderie second to none. Over the years, it has grown to 13 Zones across the continent with 145 Regions across North America. Green Mountain, is in Zone 1 and is the official Vermont ‘Region’ of the Porsche Club of America.

The Green Mountain Region (GMT) received its’ charter as part of PCA in 1986.  In 1987, the President was Patrick Walsh, the Vice-President was Lou Hochheiser, the Secretary was Don Cummings, the Treasurer was Cindy Walsh, the Newsletter Editor was Dick Flynn, and the Membership Chair was, again, Cindy Walsh.  Stu Jacobs became Treasurer in 1988 and held that post through December 2012, the longest service record of any officer.  Lou Krieg, Ann Pettyjohn, as well as Dennis and Judy Bosch also have served ‘forever’, too.

Mainly, we are a social club – and we are very good at this – but there are some members who aspire to compete in Autocross events and the like; members with these interests are generally able to do so through adjacent Regions.  Sharing a border with Canada provides an international flavor to some of our events. We’ve been known to sponsor 1 day, multi-day and overnight events all the while celebrating the enjoyment of Porsche. In short, “we drive, we party, we eat, we are good friends”.
